Jay Weaver Food Pantry
The Food Pantry workers serve a
half-day once each week to give hungry people in our area an
Emergency Supply of food. Men and women are needed to answer the
Food Pantry Telephone and obtain the necessary information to fill
out the request sheet. The Food Pantry Telephone workers also
prepare part of the order from canned staples in the Food Pantry.
Other persons, “deliverers”, are needed to take the request sheet
and Food Pantry items, buy additional items from a grocery store
using church charge account, and deliver all items to the family
requesting food. The request sheet with grocery receipt must be
returned to Food Pantry Office for Record Keeping. Training is
arranged by the Food Pantry coordinator. Meetings of all workers are
usually held at least annually. The above positions are responsible
to the Food Pantry Coordinator. Number of workers needed is twenty
to thirty including substitutes.
