Biography of Rev. Sid Gunter
Sid
Gunter is the 2nd pastor in the history of Heritage Presbyterian
Church. A 1971 graduate of
Georgia Tech,
he played football, lettering three years and playing on a
victorious top 10 Sun Bowl team. Born and raised in Elberton,
Georgia he was the youngest of 4 children.
Sid
attended
Columbia Theological Seminary and accepted his first call to
Nazareth Presbyterian Church outside of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Rev. Gunter moved to Heritage with his family in the early Summer of
1987. At that time Heritage had approximately 70 members and 20
children. Today, Heritage has over 600 members and 275 children and
youth. Heritage has also completed five building programs in his
tenure with the latest in the in the fall of 2005. The church
recently completed its fifth building program; a $1.2 million
Mission and Ministry Center.
His wife
is the former Joan Louise Burton of Anniston, Alabama. They have
three children Clay, Mandy, and Keith. They also have six
grandchildren: Brittany, Sydney, Zachary, Taylor, Grace, and Autumn.
In
addition to spending time with his family and attending Georgia Tech
sporting events, Sid enjoys traveling, listening to books on tape,
reading on Kindle, playing Pickle Ball, Racquetball and anything
Disney!
